I have a dearth of free time almost everyday. Any spare time I get is usually spent in either coding or reading. While it is fun to spend time exercising, it just isn’t possible for quite a lot of individuals.
Vince Gironda emphasized on high intensity but short duration exercises. According to him, a 15 minute exercise session will give better results than a 30 minute session with the same volume. Taking that into consideration, and knowing I would like to spend as little time as possible in exercising, I’ve experimented with a few routines and have finally settled into one where I only perform one set of one exercise a day after a little warm up.
The rules are simple:
The best part is that you only need to spend 4 or 5 minutes in exercising per day. I typically have some DOMS till next day and the daily caloric maintenance stays up by around 220 calories for me compared to the days when I don’t exercise. To me this implies that the intensity of the routine is quite adequate (especially considering how little time I spend on exercising).
I typically make a new routine every month, usually by replacing a few exercises in the last month’s routine. My current month’s routine/schedule looks like this (Do remember that I’ve named these exercises with my own terminology which may not match the actual names.):
I exercise my legs with some jumping squats, sprints, jogging and cycling almost thrice a week.
Hope this helps 🙂
